*The Akron Newstead Rotary Scholarship Breakfast that was held in conjunction with the Akron Airport’s Annual Memorial Day Fly In was a huge success.  Over 600 were served, 27 planes flew in and there were 5 static displays.  The event was an example of a terrific community partnership that observed such an important day.
 
*The ACS Rotary Interact Club recently conducted a food drive for the Akron Newstead Food Pantry.  This drive exceeded collections last Fall.  We thank our community for its generosity.   
 
*The Club’s Blood Drive with Connect Life exceeded their goal with 22 donations.  Thanks to all who graciously gave “The Gift of Life”.
 
*A recent Club meeting program featured local sportswriter and baseball historian Mike Billioni the author of the book “Seasons of Buffalo Baseball”.  Mike talked about the interesting history of the sport in WNY.
 
*Three members of the ACS Interact Club, Natalie Ginestre, Sarah Gulczewski and Rebecca Higgins, attended a recent Club meeting and discussed their experiences with the Rotary District 7090’s SLAPSHOT Program.  SLAPSHOT is a Student Leadership Award Program.  
 
*Current Club President Andy Borden will hand over the reigns to President Elect Cheryl Johannes on July 1st, the start of the new Rotary year.  We thank Andy for his tremendous leadership the past year which got us through some difficult times especially with Covid-19 and wish Cheryl all the best as our new President.
